When Pivot Bio introduced its first product in 2019, we changed the way farmers think about nitrogen, offering a more predictable, profitable and sustainable alternative to synthetic nitrogen for their cereal crops. With PROVEN® 40 and RETURN® available in-furrow, farmers could apply our microbial nitrogen products at planting and take advantage of savings on time, fuel and repeat passes without sacrificing performance.

And now we’ve gone one step further. By introducing this microbial seed coating, Pivot Bio is making microbial nitrogen broadly accessible.

Introducing Nitrogen On-Seed

PROVEN 40 On-Seed (OS) and RETURN On-Seed (OS) are the first-ever products to deliver nitrogen-fixing microbes on seed for corn, sorghum, wheat and other small grains. Reflecting another wave of innovation, our on-seed products do more than just deliver greater convenience.

• PROVEN 40 OS can be applied to any corn seed, and RETURN OS to any sorghum, wheat or small grain seed, letting farmers stick with the seeds they trust most while delivering the nutritional performance they need.
• With PROVEN® 40 OS, for the first time, farmers can plant their seeds with ~25% of the crop’s nitrogen needs already in place.
• Farmers work with their Pivot Bio sales rep to schedule seed treatment.
• Extensive product testing and regulatory registration across all major growing states confirm that our on-seed applications have no negative impact on planting, seed germination, or the environment, and no safety issues for the seed or the handler.
• Once the seed is planted and germinates, our microbes are activated, adhering to the root structure where they stay put, fixing nitrogen and providing ammonia to the plant throughout the plant’s critical growth stages – regardless of soil type or weather.

New Product Delivery, Same Benefits

Like our on-furrow products, Pivot Bio PROVEN 40 OS and RETURN OS offer better, more sustainable options to synthetic nitrogen fertilizers with no loss to leaching, denitrification or volatilization. A one-gallon box of PROVEN 40 OS or RETURN OS can replace the equivalent of a train car full of anhydrous ammonia fertilizer. Farmers can be confident our microbial nitrogen stays put, delivering positive ROI and nutrition when their crops need it most.

And the research proves it.

This summer, our Agronomy team conducted the largest in-plant nitrogen study ever done in a single season. The results confirmed that across variable growing conditions, the use of Pivot Bio products results in an average increase of 14% more in-plant nitrogen over traditional synthetic fertilizers. With the introduction of our on-seed application, we’ve made it even easier for farmers to use our microbial nitrogen for corn, as well as wheat, sorghum and other small grains.
